Recently, the Higher Education Engineering Management Professional Assessment Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) issued a notification (Engineering Management Evaluation [2023] No.01) on the evaluation conclusion of the Engineering Management program at Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU). The program passed the evaluation certification smoothly, and its qualified period is 6 years, from May 2022 to May 2028.
November 14th to 16th, 2022, the MOHURD Higher Education Engineering Management Professional Assessment Group, consisting of four experts, namely Professor Wu Zuomin, a chief engineer at the Beijing Guanghui Creativity Research and Development Center, Professor Chen Dachuan from Hunan University, Professor Zhang Lianying from Tianjin University, and Professor Wang Mengjun from Central South University, conducted a professional evaluation (re-evaluation) of the Engineering Management program at SWJTU online. This is the third time that the program has undergone a professional evaluation after passing in 2011 and 2016.
On the morning of November 14th, the Engineering Management Professional Evaluation and Certification Launch Meeting was held in Building Zero of the Jiuli Campus. Attendees included all members of the expert group, heads of relevant departments such as the Academic Affairs Office, the Teacher Affairs Office of the Party Committee, the Student Affairs Office of the Party Committee, the Youth League Committee, the Admissions and Employment Office, the Personnel Office, the Planning and Finance Office, the Asset and Laboratory Management Office, and the Library, as well as the Party Secretary of the School of Economics and Management, Wang Bin, the Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Guo Qiang, the Associate Dean, Li Liang, and representatives of teachers and students. Kang Rui, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, expressed a warm welcome and gratitude to the expert group on behalf of the university and introduced the basic situation.
During the inspection period, the expert group reviewed the materials related to the graduation design, core courses, internships, and teaching quality management documents of the Engineering Management major, and held separate discussions with the basic course teachers, professional course teachers, teaching management personnel, student representatives, and alumni representatives.
Vice President Kang Guozheng expressed sincere thanks to the expert group on behalf of the university, for their hard work, and stated that the university will accurately understand and grasp the opinions and suggestions of the expert group. Specific rectification measures will be taken to address the problems in the education and teaching of engineering management, continuously promoting the high-quality education of the university's engineering management program.
The third evaluation of the engineering management program has passed, which is of great significance for the university to further improve the quality of its program. The university will take this as an opportunity, with the leadership of the school, to use evaluation to promote construction and development, comprehensively improve the level of education and the quality of talent cultivation in the engineering management program, further improve the "Three-integration" training model of "Integration,Communication, Creativity and Enhancement", and cultivate more "Engineering Management +" compound talents capable of bearing the responsibility of the times.
