Introduction:

Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), one of the third batch of universities that can confer Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc), began to enroll students nationwide in 2012. Since the establishment of the Professional Degree Education Center of SEM, the university and school leaders have attached great importance to it, and the work has been carried out steadily.

The participating faculty of Accounting of SEM has developed in total eight teaching cases, including “Design of Equity Incentive Plan of Hengtong Electronics Co., Ltd”. Among them, six cases were selected into China Management Case-sharing Center (CMCC), two cases into National MBA Teaching Case Database, and three cases into “National Top 100 Management Cases”.

SEM has a strong teaching team of nearly 100 faculty members. Among them, there is one Double-appointed Academician, five Chair Professors of the Cheung Kong Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education (MOE), one winner of the National Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholars, six members of the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of MOE, and one member of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee. SEM has 30 professors and 50 associate professors. Besides, the school also employs over 60 national and international outstanding scholars and experts as guest professors.

Objective:

The aim of the major is to train talents who meet the needs of the socialist market economy development, who develop morally, intellectually and physically, and who have a solid theoretical foundation in Economics and Management and master comprehensive and systematic specialized knowledge in Accounting, Financial Management and Auditing. The training method of the major focuses on improving students’ practical and applied research abilities so as to cultivate high-quality practice-oriented talents.

The major requires students to possess a solid theoretical foundation in Economics and Management, to systematically master the specialized knowledge of Accounting, and to have strong capacities of expression, foreign language, logical thinking and communication. In addition to the cultivation of students’ specialized theoretical literacy, it also strengthens students’ practical, entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, so that students can develop into professional talents with certain innovative ability who can skillfully use modern data processing tools and engage in accounting and related practical work.
