Introduction:

Considering the advantages and characteristics of engineering in Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), this program focuses on the cultivation of basic knowledge of economic theory and highlight the education of quantitative economic analysis ability, mathematics and computer knowledge and skills. In addition to the basic courses of mathematics, computer and economics, the curriculum also includes compulsory courses such as intermediate microeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, game theory, operations research, computer program design and database principles and applications. In addition, in the module of specialized courses, students' choice space in quantitative and economic courses is increased as much as possible to broaden students' knowledge, knowledge structure and academic accomplishment.

Objective:

This major requires students to systematically master the basic theories of economics and relevant professional basic knowledge, and to be familiar with the basic analytical tools, methods and means of modern economics. Having the ability to solve practical problems through applying economic theoretical knowledge and quantitative economic analysis methods and technologies; Having reasonable knowledge structure, full of critical thinking and innovative spirit, a broad international vision, good professional ethics and professional ethics; Having strong written expression and communication skills, mastering and using a foreign language skillfully; Can be engaged in economic analysis, economic forecast and decision-making, economic planning, economic management and other related professional work; Becoming an applied, compound and innovative senior specialized talent of having a relatively complete knowledge system, high international quality, pragmatic style and strong sense of social responsibility to meet the needs of China’s modernization construction.
